Description:

MCLD was tasked with illuminating the Confederation Plaza Bridge in a dramatic fashion to emphasize the fact that it is both a bridge and a plaza, a duality which was lost during the many years of development of Confederation Square. We attempted to define the architecture rather that add another layer to it. To accomplish this goal, we used custom designed decorative fixtures, and embedded lighting equipment in the bridge structure. As is typical of many MCLD lighting projects, the light was of primary importance, with the fixtures serving as secondary elements in the design.
